my gosh, i love fruit.
they're basically what i've been eating.
especially nectarines :)
& i recently discovered all these different types of watermelon.
i already know about the basic red fleshed ones in their different sizes, as well as the yellow & orange ones.
also the cubed kind & i've had the special densuke kind.
but tony tells me there are white fleshed ones (cream of sasketchewan) & that there's one called the moon & stars melon.
mindblowing.
well not really.
are there any others that i don't know about?

"sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing.
there is a time for silence.
a time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny.
and a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it’s all over."

"why can’t we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? i guess that wouldn’t work. someone would leave. someone always leaves. then we would have to say goodbye. i hate goodbyes. i know what i need; i need more hellos."

i've been experimenting with exposure lately.
& i think i might almost maybe probably be getting the hang of it. yeeaaah.
my little sister really likes that massive flowery mass growing out of my head. she frequently walks around with it on.
oh, & can someone enlighten me about shutter priority vs. aperture priority? the pros & cons, when to use which and all that jazz.
thanks a bundle :)
have a nice week!
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY OTHER LITTLE SISTER-the non-flower-toting-weird one!

carrot cake!
just gotta make it through the last hurdle
& then FREEDOM.
sweet sweet freedom. it's so close.
i was cleaning through my stuff & i found a picture of my first grade teacher and myself.
i think she was my favorite. she was a little weird- a nutjob actually- but in a good way. i guess her methods worked since she taught the A class but they were far from ordinary.
i do remember what she always used to tell us;
"Always read the directions. Even if you don't like to follow them."

i really didn't intend to blog about food. but oh well.

"...memory is fragile and the space of a single life is brief, passing so quickly that we never get a chance to see the relationship between events; we cannot gauge the consequences of our acts, and we believe in the fiction of past, present, and future, but it may also be true that everything happens simultaneously."

"we don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. and the human race is filled with passion. and medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. but poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. to quote from whitman, [o me! o life! of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, o me, o life? answer. that you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.] that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. what will your verse be? raspberry framboise cream w/ a strawberry on top

things that made me smile today:
-got a package from a childhood friend.
-got stuck behind a bus after a stoplight, & someone graciously let me cut them. regardless of people honking at them.
-finished reading mineko iwasaka's geisha, a life. good stuff.
-CAKE. it's a vice. but what can you do.
-overheard someone talking nicely about me, even when they didn't have to.
-this video. i love oren lavie. (video is free on itunes, btw)
"this is why god gave us stop motion." heh.
